    New Program from Avon Lake Parks and Recreation Department: The Trail of Haunted Tales

    When: Saturday, October 18, 2014, 6:00 - 9:00 PM

    Where: Avon Lake Public Library and the Kopf Family Reservation, 32649 Electric Blvd.

    What: A Spooky, yet fun, hike through a haunted forest where strange beings tell eerie tales of doom and mystery. This program is designed for those age 5-12, plus their supportive family and friends.

    Hikes take place in the darkness, but for those who are a little less sure, the first hour of the program starts before sundown. There is no cost or registration for this program,so those arriving will need to 'check-in' to be placed into a hiking group. Some waiting will be likely, but additional events and activities will be taking place on the grounds.

    Food, beverages, and themed merchandise will also be available for a nominal fee.

    This program is brought to you by Avon Lake Parks and Recreation Department; Avon Lake Public Library; The Friends of the Library; and the Friends of the Parks. With the support of the Avon lake High School Key Club.

    The 41st Annual "Johnny Appleseed Festival" opens with a celebration of Johnny Appleseed's 203nd birthday. Two days of entertainment on different stages, handmade crafts, paired with mouth-watering food including their signature Apple Butter Barbeque Ribs.The Johnny Appleseed Festival is also the kick-off weekend for the biggest family fall attraction in Ohio, Pumpkin Village. Take a walk through the corn maze, a slide down the super slide, a hayride and kid's can even spend some of the day jumping in the jump park! Over 20,000 visitors came out last year for our Johnny Appleseed Festival so get ready for one BIG weekend!

    Stop by the Bay Village Early Childhood PTA's annual Fall Kids' Resale on Saturday, October 4 from 8:00 a.m. to noon at Bay High School, 29230 Wolf Road in Bay Village. Admission is $5 from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. and $1 from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

    The sale will feature gently used baby and children’s clothing (sizes newborn - 14/16), baby items, toys and games, books, and large items such as strollers, cribs, high chairs and outdoor play items.

    It's a great place for parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, neighbors and baby sitters to pick up gently used items for children. Shoppers with strollers are welcome!
