Are you looking for an inspiring and educational environment for your children (ages 6-11) while you work this summer? Look no further! Our camp is conveniently based at Erieview Elementary but we spend most of our time outdoors in our parks, at our pool and on exciting field trips. Explore a new integrated theme each week including: Oceanography, Cleveland Sports, Space Camp and more! Weekly sessions start at $175 for residents and $200 for nonresidents, at the early bird rate. Camp is held 8:00am to 4:00pmM-F from June 12-July 21. For more information or to register please visit www.avonlake.org and click on the “Parks are Recreation” tab.
Cleveland Sports, June 12-16: Do you want to be a professional athlete when you grow up? Or maybe you loved cheering on the Cavs to a championship win! Then this is the week for you. We will tour 2 stadiums this week. One may have hosted the World Series!
Space Camp, June 19-23: Calling all astronauts! This week we will visit an observatory, meet astronomers and see a live planetarium show! Join us as we brush up on our constellations and celebrate the first day of summer.
Captain of the Ship, June 26-30: Arrrrre you a pirate? Living this close to Lake Erie, you should be! This week, we will live the life of a sailor. Hop aboard two boats as we cruise down the Black River one day and tour a historic downtown steamship on another.
Dinosaurs ROCK, July 3-7(no 7/4): Travel back in time to the days of T-rex and visit dinosaur bones at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. How do fossils form in the first place? Let’s explore the world of rocks and minerals, and pan for some gold!
Oceanography, July 10-14: Exploring under the sea is not just for mermaids. This week, we will visit the ocean depths, walk under sharks and, if you are lucky, touch a sting ray. But did you know that, right here in Avon Lake, we are connected to the ocean.
Backyard Safari, July 17-21: Future zookeepers unite during this wild week! First, we will visit the lions of Africa and the tigers of Asia at our own Cleveland Zoo. Then, let’s learn about the animals and plants in our own backyard.
